Also will be sharing my favorite green smoothie for weight loss recipe. This is a simple smoothie recipe for beginners that is naturally sweetened. Although this could be a staple to your diet its also ok to be used just for weight loss.
How To Meal Prep Green Smoothies
Green smoothies are best served when fresh, right out the blender. So what I do is pre-plan my smoothies and have all my ingredients ready. Stock my freezer with the fruits and green I will be using and also made preparation for all the other adds in.
To have healthy and delicious smoothies bananas are essential at least to me. They absolutely make the best green smoothies for natural sweetness and rich texture. When shopping for bananas be sure to purchase bananas
Peel bananas and cut them into halves or thirds. Flash freeze these bananas on a baking sheet and then place them into an airtight container for storage.
Frozen Fruits and Greens
For your smoothies to be thick, frozen fruits are the key. Although you could use ice in your smoothies it may water down the flavor and thickness. You can flash freeze your fruits and greens just as you would with bananas.
During the winter you may have to stock up more as fruits are not as readily available.
Fruits To Use In a Green Smoothie
Below I will suggest a list of fruits you can use in your smoothie recipes. In this particular post, I use pineapple and bananas as my main fruits, I could switch out the pineapple and add mango as they are delicious as well. This post, the Kale leaves give the green color.
Below, I will suggest a few ideas for different recipes and maybe more to your liking. So keep in mind the fruits you use can change the color.
GREENS TO USE IN A GREEN SMOOTHIE
Green Smoothie for Weight loss so many options to choose from and in this recipe I use Kale. Here we have some more suggestion you can chosoe from.
- swiss chard
- romaine lettuce
- beet greens
- carrot tops
- collard greens
To save space you can freeze the greens as well. Blend the greens with little water and store them in an ice cube tray. This will save you space and also keep the greens fresh for whenever you are ready. Follow this tip it will really help if you are like me without an extra freezer.
How to Make a Green Smoothie Pineapple Kale Green Smoothie
Makes about 3-4 servings
- 2 cups raw kale leaves, stems removed
- 3/4 cup almonds
- 2 cup of frozen banana
- 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup pineapple pieces
- 2 tbsp peanut butter (unsweetened)
- 1 cup of almond milk
- 1 to 2 tsp honey, to taste
USE A VITAMIX BLENDER This is value for your money. If you want to shop smart and save money in the end get yourself one of these.
Add all of the ingredients to your Vitamix machine blender in the order listed above. Start your machine and increase the speed to the max as you blend.
Blend green smoothie until smooth, adding more water as needed to reach desired thickness.
Blend for 50 seconds. If your machine has the frozen drinks set, select this setting, start your machine and let it run through the cycle.
